Head Start

Head Start is a federally funded program for low-income preschool children (three and four year olds) in Greene County.

Head Start is a comprehensive child development program focusing on early childhood education including: health (physical, dental, and mental health), nutrition and social services. The program is individualized to assist a child's development in all areas. Children with disabilities are served within a fully integrated setting. Head Start operates under the premise that parents are the primary educators of their children. To support this philosophy, Head Start offers extensive parent involvement opportunities.

Our curriculum is based upon proven approaches and positive support systems. Children are offered opportunities to express themselves through art, music, and movement in addition to learning to read words, numbers and about the world around them. Further, an entire range of services is offered that recognizes each child's and family's developmental, ethnic, and cultural experience.
