Speech, Occupational & Physical Therapies
Speech, occupational and physical therapy services can be provided
to children from birth to five years of age who have a developmental
delay that qualifies them to receive services. These delays are
determined by a multi-disciplinary evaluation. In the Early Intervention
Program a service coordinator will help you find the services that
are needed. For the CPSE Program, the Chairperson will assist applicants
in setting up the appropriate service for their child between three
to five years of age.
Therapy services include:
- Occupational therapy - to develop fine
motor skills
- Physical therapy - to develop gross motor
skills
- Speech therapy - to develop speech and
language skills
- Counseling - to develop social-emotional
skills and or address behavior concerns
- Special education to develop cognitive
and learning skills
In addition, other services can be provided at no cost to children
who qualify. Therapy services can be provided on an individual basis
or at an ECLC center. The CPSE Committee with your input will determine
the level of services to be provided based on the evaluation report.
They can be provided at your home, nursery school, day care center,
or Head Start program. The committee makes this determination.
